Victoria Day (Monday on or before May 24) unofficially launches Canadian summer. Known as the ‘May long weekend,’ it features cottage openings, gardening, and fireworks. Thanksgiving (second Monday in October) is a harvest-season gathering with family dinners, fall colours, and regional dishes-from turkey and stuffing to pumpkin pie and butter tarts. Many communities host food drives and charity runs, celebrating gratitude and the bounty of autumn.
