Key Planning Insights for Turkey 2026

Half-Day "Arife" Closures: For Ramadan and Kurban Bayramı, the Arife (eve) begins at 13:00. Republic Day festivities also start at 13:00 on Oct 28, making the afternoon a half-day holiday.

No Automatic Transfers: Public holidays and half-day eves are defined by law. Any additional days off are announced separately by the government.

Museum & Bazaar Hours: Many museums open later on the first day of religious holidays. Bazaar hours can also change around feast periods, so always check official schedules before visiting.

UEFA Finals Impact: Istanbul hosts the UEFA Europa League final on May 20, 2026. Expect higher hotel rates and limited availability around May 18–21.

Ramadan Service Patterns: Diyanet’s calendar places Ramadan from Feb 18 to Mar 19, 2026. Some venues may limit alcohol service during the month.
